15 Jul 09 There is no God?

There is no God. All of the wonders around us are accidental. No almighty hand made a thousand million stars. They made themselves. No power keeps them on their steady course. The earth spins itself to keep the oceans from falling off towards the sun. Infants teach themselves to cry when they are hungry or hurt. A small flower invented itself so that we could extract digitalis for sick hearts.

The earth gave itself day and night, tilted itself so that we get seasons. Without the magnetic poles man would be unable to navigate the trackless oceans of water and air, but they just grew there.

How about the sugar thermostat in the pancreas? It maintains a level of sugar in the blood sufficient for energy. Without it, all of us would fall into a coma and die. Why does snow sit on mountain tops waiting for the warm spring sun to melt it at just the right time for the young crops in farms below to drink? A very lovely accident.

The human heart will beat for 70 or 80 years without faltering. How does it get sufficient rest between beats? A kidney will filter poison from the blood, and leave good things alone. How does it know one from the other?

Who gave the human tongue flexibility to form words, and a brain to understand them, but denied it to all other animals? Who showed a womb how to take the love of two persons and keep spliting a tiny ovum until, in time, a baby would have the proper number of fingers, eyes, and ears in the right places, and come into the world when it is strong enough to sustain life?

There is no God?

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He hath made every [thing] beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

Psalms 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Psalm 14: 1 The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God

Believe in evolution? Believe that man comes from evolution of apes ? Only fools can imagine such absurd concepts. The fools embrace evolution because they said in their heart that there is no God. They just don’t want God to exist because they do not want to account to someone who is going to judge them in the future.

For me, I rather believe that my great, great, great grandfather is Adam rather than an ape. The geneaology of man is outlined very clearly in the bible.

08 Jul 09 F.W. Woolworth

F.W. Woolworth was a millionaire. In 1909 he opened his first store in England, and in 1913 the company opened its new headquarters in New York’s Woolworth Building — then the tallest building in the world.

This is the inspiring story of how he started his business.

Many years ago he went to work at a hardware store. He found all sorts of junk that took up space but did not sell well. He asked the owner to allow him to put it all on one table and sell each item for 10 cents. He did so and had a successful sale.

Later he did the same thing, and had another successful sale. He approached the owner and suggested that they open up a store specializing in items that cost only a nickel or a dime.

The owner thought it was a bad idea and refused. He decided and went into business for himself and became very successful with his idea.

His old employer later said, “I have calculated that every word I used to turn young Woolworths down cost me a million dollars.”

05 Jul 09 Work to retire and enjoy life

A Harvard MBA graduate was at a pier in a small coastal village in China when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large fishes. The Harvard MBA graduate complimented the Chinese fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.

The Chinese fisherman replied, “Only a few hours”

The Harvard MBA graduate then asked why didn’t he stay out longer and catch more fish.

The Chinese fisherman said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs.

The Harvard MBA graduate then asked the Chinese how he spent the rest of his time.

The Chinese fisherman said, “I sleep, fish a little, play with my children, enjoy life with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip tea and play Chinese chess and flute with my friends.”

The Harvard MBA graduate scoffed, “I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and, with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. You would control the product, processing and distribution. ”

“You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Beijing or Shanghai where you will run your expanding business.”

The Chinese fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?”

To which the Harvard MBA graduate replied, “10-15 years.”

“But what then?” asked the Chinese fisherman?

The Harvard MBA graduate laughed, and said, “That’s the best part! When the time is right, you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public. You’ll become very rich, you would make multi millions!”

“Multi Millions!?” replied the Chinese fisherman, “Then what?”

The Harvard MBA graduate said, “Then you would retire. Move to a small fishing village where you would  fish a little, play with your kids, enjoy life with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip  tea and play your chess  with your friends.”

Then the Chinese fisherman says:  “That’s funny!  Isn’t that what I am already doing right now?”
